Thursday, Oct 17, 2002
By Jason Maas

HOUSTON (BP)--Houston Baptist University's Sarah Emmer was chosen as the Red River Athletic Conference Setter of the Week for Oct. 6-12, the third time she has been honored this season.

Emmer helped the Huskies to a 5-0 week, including four conference victories over the weekend. The 5'8" junior from Sugar Land delivered 169 assists, playing all 15 games in Houston Baptist's sweeps of Texas Lutheran, Huston-Tillotson College, Jarvis Christian College, Texas College and Wiley College.

She averaged 11.3 assists for the week, posting double-figure averages in four of the five matches. With 986 assists so far this season, she has moved into fourth place on the all-time list. She needs 14 more assists to become just the fourth player in Houston Baptist history to have more than 1,000 career assists and 306 assists to move into third place all-time.

It was the third time that Emmer has been honored this season, and the second straight week. She has also been named to the All-Tournament teams at the Husky Classic and the Region VI Challenge this year.

Houston Baptist is 25-1 overall on the season, and is in first place in the Red River East with a perfect 9-0 record. The Huskies will not return to the court until Oct. 22, when they host Concordia University-Austin at Sharp Gym. The Huskies have won 16 straight home matches.
