ARKADELPHIA, Ark. (BP)-Ė The Ouachita Baptist menís basketball team withstood a late Arkansas-Monticello rally to hold off the Boll Weevils in a 68-67 Gulf South Conference victory at Bill Vining Arena Jan. 17.

The Tigers (8-5 overall, 1-1 GSC) led 66-58 with two minutes remaining after a pair of free throws by Memo Rodriguez. However, the Boll Weevils (8-6, 0-2) climbed back into the game, cutting the deficit to 67-64 after a pair of free throws by DíAngelo Dean.

Daniel Maddox was fouled at the other end with 21 seconds left, making one-of-two at the foul line to give Ouachita Baptist a 68-64 advantage. After a Duke Sturdivant missed 3-pointer, Arkansas-Monticello had one last chance to cut the margin as Raymond Wright drilled a 3-pointer from the left corner as the horn sounded, giving the Tigers their first GSC win.
