HBU baseball wins home opener

HOUSTON (BP)–Houston Baptist senior catcher Johnathon Moore went 4-for-4, stole a base and drove in a pair of runs as the Huskies rallied late to cruise past Concordia, 9-0, in their home opener March 16 at Husky Field.

Sophomore right fielder Kolby Arnst went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI, while senior second baseman Derek Smith went 3-for-4 and scored a pair of runs for HBU (5-9). Junior center fielder Paul Prestera went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and two runs scored, and freshman third baseman Josh Gonzales went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Junior righthander Stephen Nikonchik (2-2) no-hit Concordia through five innings and picked up the win, shutting out the Tornados on two hits while striking out four.
