ARKADELPHIA, Ark. (BP)--The Ouachita Baptist softball program landed three players on the 2011 All-Gulf South Conference Pre-Season Team and have been picked to finish second in the GSC West Division, officials announced Jan. 25.

Earning spots on the 2011 All-GSC Pre-Season squad are senior pitcher/designated player Kristen Rigsbee, senior second baseman Sarah Bell and sophomore outfielder Megan Askew.
All three players are returning All-GSC performers in 2010, as Ouachita finished with a program-record 36-24 record, en route to a second-straight trip to the GSC Tournament. Rigsbee and Bell both teamed up with former All-American Haley Chambers to set the program home run mark at 13.

Rigsbee was a force on the mound and at the plate, earning a 20-10 record with a 2.57 ERA on the mound with 205 strikeouts and just 38 walks in 191 innings. At the plate, she hit .390 with 11 doubles, 13 home runs and 45 RBIs. The senior is a three-time First Team All-GSC selection, while also earning a spot on the 2010 GSC West Division All-Decade First Team, 2010 Daktronics All-South Region Second Team and was selected to the 2010 Louisville Slugger NFCA Division II Second Team as a designated hitter. Rigsbee also earned 2008 GSC Freshman of the Year honors.

Bell had a breakout season in 2010 at the plate, recording a .392 average with 65 hits, including 13 doubles, 13 home runs and 43 RBIs. The second baseman also collected a team-high .483 on-base percentage for Ouachita.

Askew is a two-sport All-GSC performer, after earning 2010 GSC Freshman of the Year honors in softball and earning a spot on the 2010 All-GSC Volleyball Second Team squad for the Lady Tigers. Askew began her collegiate career by playing in the leadoff position for the entire season for Ouachita, hitting .350 with 11 doubles, five home runs and 17 RBIs.

Ouachita begins the 2011 season on Feb. 11 against Texas A&M-International in Kingsville, Texas, at 11 a.m.
